Q: Credit Check?
I have bad credit. I have a few credit cards that are sent to the collection agency. I have a car and I've paid it on time every month for the last 3 years.
I just got offered a new job; however, before officially being hired I need to do a credit check.
The HR people at the company said as long as I can get a credit card, I can pass the check. Every once in a while, I'll get a pre-approved credit card offer from some crappy 2nd or 3rd rate bank. Does that count.
Do you think I will lose the job b/c my credit is bad?
Not fired, but I will not receive (lose) the job offer.
A: If your potential employer is a financial company in Canada, you may not get the job. In Canada it is illegal to hire someone with bad credit in a bank, etc. (You can be fired too if your credit goes bad).
Otherwise, you may be alright because you have a good history with a car loan. Go to a credit counsellor for the credit cards. (They can be found in the Yellow Pages of your telephone directory). It is good to have them help you break down your debt into manageable payments that you can afford. This will repair your bad credit faster and save you from this type of anxiety in the future.
Q: Can someone check my credit without my social security number?
I am applying to rent an apartment and the advertisement said that there was a credit check. The application doesn't ask for my social security number. There is no application or credit check fee. Can they check my credit without my SSN?
A: No they can't pull your credit without your SSN. It's the SSN that makes you unique.
Q: Why did the free credit check ask me for a credit card number?
I need a credit check on myself. I have done this in the past, and never needed a credit card number. I have never given a credit card number without being charged.
Does anyone know of a free credit check without giving a credit card number?
A: Because you went to a website that aims to deceive people about getting free credit report
Go to http://www.annualcreditreport.com
This is the TOTALLY FREE website that will not even ask for your credit card number.
The federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) http://www.ftc.gov/os/statutes/031224fcra.pdf requires that U.S. consumers be entitled to a free credit report each year. The government’s goal is to make sure that consumers stay informed, fight identity theft, and get fair treatment. This is the government mandated website where you can get 1 free credit report from the 3 agencies for free in one year. Go to this website and you can get your credit report from the 3 credit agencies
Q: What credit card can I apply for that does not check credit?
I am attempting to build a positve credit rating and I need a card that reports to the credit bureau, but will allow me to obtain it without a credit check. HELP?
A: You can't get a credit card that will report to the credit bureaus that doesn't do a credit check first. If you don't have good enough credit to get a normal credit card you may end up with what's called a secured credit card. Which means that you put a security deposit down and in exchange you get a credit card to use. And then as long as all your payments are on time and you don't go over your credit limit they'll give you back your security deposit usually after about a year.
Q: Can you do your own credit check for free or less money when renting an apartment?
I am looking at apartments and one want to charge me a $150 credit check fee, I thought I read once that you can bring in your own credit check that you can get online. Does anyone know about this and what site to use? Thank you!

Q: How do I perform a credit check on a potential renter for my condo?
I'm trying to rent my condo out, and I want to avoid any riff raff. How do I check someone's credit before I rent to them? Is there some agency or some website that I can pay in order to get their credit history?

Q: How do you get a credit and background check on a potential roommate?
My husband and I plan to rent out our extra bedroom in our condo and want to do a background check and credit check on the person we want to move in (when we find him/her). Do anyone know where to get this done or how much it cost?
A: For free, check out http://www.crimcheck.com , they have an extensive free public records section. Good for the DIY'ers.
But since you would have to do the research yourself which can lead to missing out on information, I would recommend http://www.easybackgroundchecks.com , they offer statewide background checks for $20. They also offer nationwide background checks for $30
Q: What can a prospective employer see in a credit check done to a prospective employee?
What I mean is can they actually go into detail with your accounts, etc.? OR do they only see you "credit rating" or "score"?? Someone with experience as an employer or manager, please help me out with this one. I am going to have a credit check done on me for a job, and my credit if considered "fair" because I don't have a long credit history, but I need a little info.
A: taximomu is correct.
Credit reports are like report cards when we were in school only instead of showing how good/bad we are doing in our studies they show how good/bad we are doing at managing our debt.
Employers do have the right to do credit checks and most applications for employment have a clause that allows them to do this as soon as you sign it.

I am goiing to an interview tommorrow for a federal job at a passport center, they say that they are going to do a background check that includes a credit check, I have not so great credit, how big of a part of the background check is the credit check part?
A: I am not sure , it depends on yoru position .. but fix it ..
To boost your credit score:
The first thing you will need to do is call the three major credit reporting agencies and request a free copy of your credit report.
www.equifax.com
www.experian.com
www.transunion.com
Then once you get those in the mail (7-10 days) there will be a dispute form attached to the reports. Fill those out for every negative account on your report regardless. Fax, mail go online whatever it takes to get those submitted as quickly as possible. Then those companies must answer your dispute within 30 days or it is removed from your credit report completely. So that will eliminate some things, hopefully.
Then make sure you pay all your revolving accounts to below 50% of your credit limits.
Make sure that you make all your payments no more than 20 days from the date it is due.
Good Luck!

Q: Does Avon do a credit check on you before you can sell their product?
I was just wondering if Avon does a credit check before allowing people to sell? I don't have the best credit, so I'm a little unsure if I even want to go through the embarrassment and getting rejected. Thanks for your help!
A: No they don't do a credit check but what they do is they let you order up to a certain limit according to the amount of info that you provide. So the more info you provide the higher the order size they will let you order.
When you join Avon it is your business so you do what you choose to do with it as you please.

If you do happen to be interested and are ready to get started just go to my website and click my name so that I could email you online application website information.
Hope that helped answer your question!
Q: How do I run a credit check on a prospective renter?
I am renting a condo to someone. How do I run a credit check on them? I assume I need them to sign a form agreeing to it. Then what? How do I order a credit check? What are the fees?
A: It would be easiest to require your prospective renters to provide you with a current credit check.
There are numerous places they can do it online:

Q: How much does bankruptcy affect the credit check deposit for cell phone service?
My husband and I just filed for bankruptcy not too long ago and are planning on getting a cell phone plan. Does anyone know how much the bankruptcy will affect our deposit for phone service (credit check deposit)
A: Could be anywhere from 150.00 to 300.00 deposit...You can go online to the provider and pick plans and do a check that way...it should be able to tell you how much you'll need to get the plan. Been there.
Q: What information is needed to do a credit check on someone?
A possible tenant does not want to give out identity information to someone she doesn't know. I understand that but I'd like to check her credit.
A: You have to have their social security number to do it, if they wont give it to you then you find another tenant.
Q: How to purchase a home without a credit check and a down payment?
Is it really possible to purchase a home without a credit check and and without a down payment?
A: Yes, it is...and there's lots of ways to do that.
Owner financing is one way, particularly with what had been merely investment property for the seller.
Another way is by buying a property through a tax sale...but you've got to have some cash to pull that off (many times, not a lot of cash at all, even a few thousand dollars may do).
Good Luck, and don't quit!
